Brick + Jason’s Wedding at FAR

Brick and Jason got married in April at a really lovely and unique ceremony at the FAR Center for Contemporary Arts in downtown Bloomington, Indiana! I was so happy to be there with them throughout the day documenting such a precious moment.

There was lots of laughing, color, and sweetness. A perfect day for such a darling couple!

Two grooms get ready for their wedding at FAR in Bloomington, Indiana. One has glasses, blonde hair, and is smiling in a green velvet suit. The Other is pinning the flowers on his jacket and is wearing a dark purple suit.

Their color scheme was this really lovely deep green, burgundy, and pink. Brick’s darling velvet suit was almost too sweet for me to handle, haha. I loved the florals from Harvest Moon Flower Farm and how they inserted color throughout the day.

Brick hung several of his own still life photographs around the main room, and it only helped what already felt like a very true-to-themselves day feel even more on point.

The FAR Center for Contemporary Arts is a wonderful place to have host your wedding. Their wedding coordinator, Emma, takes exceptional care of her clients and the space is so beautiful, but minimal, which helps make it easy for the space to be your own. The downtown location is such a major plus. I adore all the big windows and the garden space outside. I really appreciated getting to work in this space and would highly suggest you consider it as a venue for your wedding if you’re looking!

For their ceremony Brick and Jason made vanilla extract. It was very original and very precious. They cook and bake a lot together so it felt really significant and appropriate. I appreciated how much it opened my eyes to the idea that your wedding ceremony should be whatever you want! Whatever ritual will feel significant to you.

And after the ceremony we slipped over the library to sign the marriage license with their witnesses and the officiant.

There was cake and dancing and a great time had by all! Brick insisted on a funfetti cake from our local bakery, Two Sticks, and by god he got it!! There aren’t a lot of times where I shoot in this style, but for parties I think it’s so nice to capture a little motion!

And lastly I just want to touch base on the film I used for the day. I was excited to bring film along with me. I love slowing down for just a moment when things feel busy and capturing the moment in those true-to-life-but-a-little-sweeter colors that film just gives you. I shot both medium format and 35mm alongside digital. Here are a few of my favorites.
