Camping at the Indiana Dunes

Went up to the Indiana Dunes National Park the last weekend of April. I’d never actually been up there before! What a beautiful place!

It was pretty overcast all weekend, rained a lot, but we still got to get around everywhere we wanted. We did the “3 Dune Challenge” the first day and that was probably my favorite hike of the weekend. I was so impressed by my little dog, Darlene! She did a couple really big hikes, especially for such a little gal, and really kept up with everyone. It felt so precious to take Darlene along with me, it was her first real vacation!

We ate pudgy pies, veggie dogs, s’mores, and egg sandwiches off a camp stove. Walked all over, saw green herons, slept in a tent while it rained, and put our toes in the way-too-cold water of Lake Michigan, haha. Had a very sweet, and busy, time with my sisters and our friends.

This was the first trip where I totally left behind my digital camera and just stuck to film and I didn’t miss it at all. I love this kind of documentation. Making portraits, candid photos, landscapes, and capturing the details of a little weekend trip really thrills me.

All photos here are on medium format and 35mm film ~

We only really ate out once while we were up north, but the one time we did was 10/10!! I could not more highly suggest the Tiger Lily Café for my vegan and non-veg friends. Absolutely wonderful menu and stocked bake case. All six of us got different entrees and we were all totally thrilled.

And lastly, here’s a couple snapshots of me by Chris off his Kodak EasyShare C1530 :)
